lesson #060: it's been a long time / shouldn't have left you

Hollo!

Been a long time since I wrote something new. Vell, a lot of things have happened these few days. It was Wednesday afternoon in my last update, and hollo! It's already the next Monday now. Or more appropriately Tuesday morning, 4:00 AM.

Let's see what's happened chronologically. Hmmm.

Wednesday night

We did go out, and I bought a cheap S$12 sparkling wine from M&S for the pre-party drinking session. It's Pinot Grigio but still did not pass the Italians' standard of wine purity. Chelsea, myself, Yang, Anders, Nicola, Rosario and their visiting friend Federico went on to Revolution. It was raining the whole way so some of us had to share umbrellas. Over there, had a drink called the Russian Bride which tasted like chocolate milk. So yummy! It was so yummy that one of the boys went to order it too, despite it being clearly a girl's drink!

From Revolution, our crowd diminished by two because Chelsea and Yang wanted to go home early. The rest of us went to the Spanish party and despite my company being 4 strapping young men I still get approached by seedy-looking old boys in their late-thirties attempting to relive their teenage days.

I lost count of how many 'y'alright there?'s I received.

At home, I had some weird Italian salami for supper but I couldn't finish it because it was just too weird.

Thursday night

The night of our Christmas dinner!!! Yang, Z and I prepared (read: Bought From M&S) the turkey breast while the rest prepared side dishes, aperitif, desserts and snacks. Coralie's honey almond pie was delicious as usual. We ate 'til we were stuffed and then played some drinking games, the most exciting of which being I Never. Now we know that some of us had had anal sex before, and that some of us had had threesomes, and that all of the boys get up in the morning with a morrabrød.

Yep, our neighbours in Thornbanks are exciting people indeed!

Oh, and I home-fixed my Z button this night.

Friday night

Can't remember! Probably spent the whole day playing poker on Unibet and reading Charles Dickens.

Saturday night

Yang's friend Manchi stopped over in Bath. Played poker and got first position after a long, long time, mostly by luck. There were 7 or 8 people playing and I kicked every single one of them out during show-downs. Amazing!

Either that day or Sunday, I saw Gary online after the longest time. I asked him if he missed me and he said only a little bit, because he'd gotten used to life without me. I thought that was sad, because I'd gotten used to life without him. So what's gonna happen to us then? If worse comes to worst I hope we'd remain pals. Do you still love me baby?

Honestly though, the thought of being single used to scare me a lot. I was too used to having someone around, a safety net that I can rely on. But right now, I think I'll be fine without a safety net. ... Yeah, I think I will be. Having someone to love is great, but if I can't have that then it won't be the end of the line for me either.

Sunday night

More online poker, more reading (Oscar Wilde this time), and more poker with the boys.

Monday night

Lit exam over and done with. Now gotta worry about Treasury essay as well as finishing up my UBS application (got invited to second round, and I am, as the boys like to say in poker, 'aaaaaaaall in'!).

I've been playing better in poker and I love it. It's not about the money anymore - it's winning nice hands that gives me the thrill. I've bluffed a boy out of a flush when I had jack schitt and I think that's an important milestone - to have them be afraid of what they think you have.

I'd put up some pictures but I'm too lazy to resize them now and whatnot. I shalt go to sleep. Tomorrow I will wake up late, skip class, and go for a cuppa at Starbucks, all the while taking pictures of Bath.

Have fallen in love with Oscar Wilde's comedy of manners, The Importance of Being Earnest. The whole thing's just so darn funny. I wish SMU's StageIt would come up with a production based on that original script. I especially love the character of Lady Bracknell, a snobbish Brit upper class. Below is an example of her ever-hilarious lines.

LADY BRACKNELL Miss Prism! Did I hear you mention a Miss Prism?
CHASUBLE Yes, Lady Bracknell. I am on my way to join her.
LADY BRACKNELL Pray allow me to detain you for a moment. This matter may prove to be one of vital importance to Lord Bracknell and myself. Is this Miss Prism a female of repellent aspect, remotely connected with education?
CHASUBLE She is the most cultivated of ladies, and the very picture of respectability.
LADY BRACKNELL It is obviously the same person.
