blogging from barcelona

Here I am using the crappy free internet connection at the Centric Point Hostel in Barcelona, blogging for the first time since I flew to London.

Well... There are too many things to say and too little time. Been keeping a journal in London, but over here in Barce I don't have my lappie.

Transferring photos now to my portable HDD.

I miss everyone in Singapore. At the same time, I'm pretty excited to see the La Sagrada Familia tomorrow, as well as do a little bit of shopping (2 Zara's in one stretch of a road! Woot!).

Bloody hell, it's hard to type using a Spanish keyboard. Different positioning and the lettering's faded from much use.

What was London like?

Very busy streets. People jaywalk everywhere, especially in Central London. Covent Garden is a happening area where the restaurants open until 1 am in weekends. We of course went to Oxford Street (kinda like Orchard Road) and bought some stuff from Topshop and H&M. Also took a look at Portobello Market, where antiques are sold for a bargain (supposedly, but I saw some dodgy 'antiques' that could've come from Thailand).

Obviously we visited the Big Ben...

Londoners? They're very colourful and fashionable, making the most out of what's left of summer. The boys are hot and the girls are fully made up all the time. The boys are very loud at the pubs, what they call 'lout' culture.

And we learned a slang. When they say 'that girl's fit', it means she's pretty, and not that she's got the body of Venus Williams.

And the buildings... Oh. Old and rustic and very scenic indeed.

Barcelona's architechture is beautiful as well. Took a long walk down Las Ramblas. We went past this creepy alley and took a few artsy pictures with it in the background.

And the weather! I swear Barcelona could've been Singapore. Very much different from London, where the wind bites if you're not fully shielded by a scarf.

I'm gonna try to blog again tomorrow. Pretty tired now, gonna head to sleep.

Overall, this experience's been pretty surreal. Like I can't really believe I'm here. I can't believe I'm actually ON my exchange, at least the start of it. I still feel like all the travelling will be over in two weeks and I'll be back home and I can relax. Keep asking Yang and Zhi to slap me awake into reality.

I miss the people I love... please tag me or e-mail... I've got a UK number which's supposed to work in Europe as well but somehow I couldn't get a signal here in Barcelona. +44 7726 634017. SMS will prolly cost 50 cents both ways... Contact me! I feel so far apart from everything that's happening in SMU.

OK. Sleep it is now.

Ciao!
